Since I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make it 'til midnight, I wanted to wish my few readers a Happy New Year! It's always exciting to have a new year begin and feel like we can have a fresh start. We can start all over with our slate wiped clean....especially if we know Jesus! Love you all and here's to a great 2010!:)
In 5 days, I will be 27. In a week, it will be a brand new year. I've been doing some thinking.....dangerous I know:).....about some changes/improvements I would like to make for the new year. So, in no particular order, here is my list of "new year's resolutions".
1. Exercise more and eat better. (this has to be on every woman's list)
2. Pray more and have a more consistent quiet time.
3. Stop worrying about things I cannot control.
4. Have a good attitude even during times that are hard and when things don't seem to be going my way.
5. Serve others with a grateful heart.
6. Tell those I love, that I love them because you never know when they might be gone!
7. Teach my kids more about Jesus and how great His love is for them.
8. Get organized, and keep a cleaner house!
9. Learn to cook.
10. Basically, I need to get "domesticized". hahaha.... is that a word?!
11. I could go on and on and on about things to work on....but I'm going to just start learning to accept the Grace that was so freely given and give myself a little break here!:) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year my friends!:)
Merry Christmas from my family to yours! Hope everyone is enjoying this time with family and friends. We are having a great time out here in Pawley's Island. Even though it is only 25 minutes from our house, we feel like we are on a vacation because we've been staying at Grandma's and Grandpa's house for about a week. Trey and Elizabeth are having so much fun with their cousins and we don't want them to miss a minute of spending time with them. Elizabeth does her best to keep up with the big girls and Trey and the boy cousins play a mean game of kickball everyday in the driveway. Of course, the biggest kids (Bobby, Mark, and maybe me...:) get out there and join in on the fun too!
I love this time of year....for a lot of reasons, but most of all, it is exciting to teach my kids that on Christmas, God gave us the greatest gift of all....His son. I know at their young age they may not realize the magnitude of this, but I pray that one day they will.
I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!:)....and a Happy new year!!!
I definitely have the best of both worlds....a very boyish boy and a very girlie girl. Trey is on his way to the Tennesse/South Carolina game, and Elizabeth is at home with me trying on her costume. (Her room is a mess because she just loooovvvvves to take all her clothes out of the drawers. I love it too. NOT.) Trey is having a ball with his cousin Will, and I'm sure Bobby and Mark are in Football Heaven. Elizabeth and I will be hitting up the fall festival at our church later. Have a happy day everyone!
So, as all (two:)) of you know, I have been totally slacking on the blog.....I have many good excuses such as the hubby working at home and on the computer all the time.....but excuses stink!:) Many have texted or called and asked me when I was going to update my blog. I am so pleased that some of you read this and actually enjoy hearing about me and the fam.....does wonders for my ego!) But it was Paige who actually kicked my butt into blogging gear....Imagine that, Paige being the one to make me get off my butt......think back to the Firm post from the summer:) Anyway, she awarded me the Honest Scrap so here goes..... Thanks Paige!
RULES AND REGULATIONS:Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award.Share "10 Honest Things" about myself.Present the award to 7 others whose Blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.Tell those 7 people they've been awarded Honest Scrap and inform them of these guidelines in receiving.(I don't know if I have 7 people I can pass this on to....:) ) Here it goes!
1. I like to dance in front of the mirror .....I like to pop lock and drop it. haha. And if Bobby doesn't tell me that I'm a good dancer, I get mad. 2. I am meanest to Bobby and my Mom....they get to experience the wrath of me when I feel like no one else would like me if I yelled at them like that!:) 3. I cry reading other people's blogs or stories about their own personal miracles and their faith that got them there. 4. I have a hard time understanding just how much He loves me! 5. I sometimes put my kids before my hubby. 6. I sometimes wish I was a "career woman".....even though when I really think about it, I wouldn't change getting to stay home with my kids for anything! 7. I struggle tremedously with guilt. How great it is that I have a Savior who has wiped my slate clean! 8. I used to call "Murder She Wrote" , "Murder She-Ra". hahaha man I was cute.:) 9. I really want to go on a cruise without my kiddos! 10. I'm not really a hardcore Bengal or Gamecock fan, but I try oh so hard for my husband's sake, who God bless him, may not live to see another season.:)
Ok who to tag......Can I tag Paige again?!?! She might be my only reader.....but here goes... I award the following..... 1. Rachel Hamilton Wing 2. Megan Parsons 3. Mary Margaret Purdy 4. Kim Cavanaugh 5. Danette Edgar 6. Justin Edgar 7. Katie Moslener
Come on ya'll, You know you want to.......:) Enjoy!
These jokes almost made me wet my pants....seriously! Enjoy!!:) *At the beginning of my shift I placed a stethoscope on an elderly and slightly deaf female patient's anterior chest wall. "Big breaths," I instructed. "Yes, they used to be," remorsed the patient. *One day I had to be the bearer of bad news when I told a wife that her husband had died of a massive myocardial infarction. Not more than five minutes later, I heard her reporting to the rest of the family that he had died of a "massive internal fart. " *I was caring for a woman from Kentucky and asked, "So how's your breakfast this morning?" "It's very good, except for the Kentucky Jelly. I can't seem to get used to the taste," the patient replied. I then asked to see the jelly and the woman produced a foil packet labeled "KY Jelly."
I think Trey had a good day! I say "think" because when I asked him how his day went I got the normal, yet very annoying one word answers...."good", "fine", "ok", etc. Did you meet any new friends....yes........is your teacher nice......yes......How was recess.....good......and so on and so on. But as the afternoon went on, he started supplying details all on his own. He said Ms. Godbold (his teacher) is very nice and that he played with boys and girls at recess. He also mentioned that he loved eating lunch in the caPeteria. Yes I spelled that right. Cafeteria with a P. Don't worry, I corrected him:). It was still cute though. I am so glad it went well, but I'd be totally lying if I said I didn't TOTALLY lose it the minute we left his classroom. It's hard to watch my little man grow up! I pray he grows into a godly man who treats others with respect and love....but I want him to grow SLLOOOOWWWLLLLLLYYYY!!!!!:) Keep on praying for the rest of Trey's kindergarten year!:) p.s Happy Birthday Trey!!!! (yes he is THAT kid who has his birthday on the first day of school....poor guy!)
So---there has been a lot going on for the Seigle family lately! Two really big things are 1. Trey turns six tomorrow! and 2. Trey starts kindergarten tomorrow! I am hoping to get through tomorrow with no tears (on my part, Trey is dying of excitement) but for those who know me....that is not likely! Anyway, Trey has already celebrated his birthday twice, once with my parents and sister, and then today with Bobby's parents and a good friend, Steve Cellucci. We went to Abuelos and it was yummy. Trey got cake and ice cream of course for his birthday and quickly ate all the ice cream and didn't really touch the cake. Grandma Bonnie said, "Trey, are you going to eat your cake?" and Trey replied, " No Grandma, I'm not a cake man, I'm more of an ice cream man." I about died laughing because he said it so matter of factly...and I guess turning six makes him a MAN now!:)
Another funny story about Trey.......tonight I was putting him to bed and he kept looking at my forehead while we were talking/praying. (FYI I have two HUGE zits on my face right now....gotta love that time of the month!:)) All the sudden he interrupts me and says, "Oh Mama, you have a big zit, let me get it for you," and then proceeds to try and pop my zit. It was a wonderful moment, and Yes, he did draw blood:). hahaha.
Also--Tonight was bobby and I's first softball practice for this coed league we are playing in. Bobby and I both never played this sport....the only one we didn't! Combined we went 1 for 8 and had 2 errors....according to Bobby. I try and focus only on the good, which was that I caught it once when I was playing second!:) I think i'll start pumping some iron since some of these girls could eat me for breakfast and I have a feeling we'll be hitting up the batting cages....Bobby and I are not competitive at all!! (SARCASM!!!:)
I can't leave Elizabeth out of this post...she's 13 months today! How fast they grow!:) She is all over the place and gabbering up a storm. She tries really hard to keep up with Trey and has decided his toys are way cooler than hers! She can say a couple of words, but can understand a lot of what we tell her. She still thinks "NO" is a funny word, so I think we are going to have our work cut out for us!
ok, I'm outta here....hopefully I'll be better about posting now that we'll be on more of a schedule. Happy new school year!:)
It has been forever since I've blogged, and my sister told me this morning that I needed to get on and update this thing! I have TONS, and I mean TONS of pictures that I need to put on here from the summer, but these are two that my sister took recently. First is me and Trey with Gray, my niece. Second picture is Elizabeth and Gray, my mom's two Granddaughters. We are in Charlotte now for Gray's baptism and then we will head back to the beach so Trey can get ready to start school. Trey will be 6 on the 24th of this month. I can hardly believe my little boy is getting so big! We have really had a great summer and have gotten to see a lot of family, which has been nice after living so far away for the past 4 years. I am sad to see it coming to an end and even sadder for Kindergarten to start!! Everyone better start praying for Mama, because it is going to be harder on me that Trey.....he's pumped!:)
.....is WALKING!!!!!!! :) I can't believe it! She is two weeks away from her first birthday so I knew it was coming soon. Before today she managed to take 1 or 2 steps but then once she realized what she was doing she would fall down immediately. But today she went across the whole room!! It was so sweet, Paige got it on video, so I will try and paste it once she loads it online. Just wanted to update everyone (who actually reads this:)
* This is an idea I am stealing from my sister-in-law Paige.....it's supposed to be Not Me Monday, but I am having to conduct a "blog rebuttal"!!!:) (Hopefully I spelled that right!)
Where to begin.....
I did NOT laugh uncontrollably when Caroline asked her mommy (Paige) if a picture of her with short hair was "when she was a little boy". I did NOT go to a movie with Bobby and Paige where Paige was the only person laughing during "My sister's Keeper." I of course did NOT at times have to laugh along with her. I did NOT cry so hard that snot was dripping out of my nose and I did NOT borrow kleenex from Paige!
I did NOT kill myself doing the Firm with Paige....I was NOT determined to finish it just because Paige was...I also did NOT need gallons of water and assistance going up and down the stairs afterwards. I did NOT have to watch Paige do the motions instead of the instructors because I am so coordinated! I of course did NOT try and exercise and jump around without proper support!:) haha, Paige will get this!
I do NOT have the same conversation with Caroline every night in my bed about being allergic to bees. I did not laugh when she told her brother (OLDER brother by the way) to "Get out of the pool, SON!" We do NOT talk about all the grotesque ways her mom could die and how sad it would be. I most certainly do NOT laugh at everything that girl says!
I did NOT want to tell my sweet baby girl to hush her mouth in the car yesterday as she was joyfully talking/singing/babbling. I did NOT have an emotional breakdown in the car and try really hard to shield my face from Paige, as she could hear (once again) the snot being sucked back into my nose!:)
Mmmmmm.....Could go on and on....might have to make this Not me MONDAY a habit!:)
I will have pictures from today up later, but I wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th and thank all who have sacrificed so we can enjoy our freedom in this great country! We don't always realize how good we have it, but it's nice to take this day to hug a soldier and show our appreciation. To my Dad, my favorite soldier-- I love you!:)
Elizabeth (who was 11 months old yesterday and days away from walking!) had an appointment with an ENT today here in Augusta, and she is going to have tubes put in. She's had 5 ear infections in the last 7 months and has been on so many antibiotics. I am somewhat relieved because I do not want her to build up a resistance to those medicines. They are going to call me to schedule a date, and the doctor said they get us in within 2 weeks. So, everyone keep that in your prayers! Very minor procedure I know, but anything medical with your baby (especially when they have to have anesthesia) is makes me kinda nervous. I'll be glad when it's over!
Other news....we left New Orleans on the 15th and have been in Augusta ever since. Well, we did go to Kershaw for a couple days to visit Meemaw and family, but other than that, just hanging out in Augusta. Lindsay came with little Gray so it's been fun getting to know my little niece. She is so cute and Elizabeth says "AWWWW" when we show her Gray. She is also saying Mama and Uh oh! Trey had a lemonade stand and has been doing LOTS of swimming. Tomorrow we leave to go to the beach for 10 days to see Bobby's family....tubes will be after a wonderful beach vacation! Should be a good time. I will post again after Elizabeth's tubes are successfully in place!:) Everyone have a great and safe 4th of July!
It's been forever! We have been super busy. We left New Orleans on the 21st to start the drive to a wedding in Williamsburg. First we stopped off at Charlotte to spend Friday night with my sister, but then Saturday morning we were up bright and early to go see Brooke and Matt get married! Trey was the ring bearer and I was the matron of honor...so we had a lot of responsiblities.....therefore, Daddy and Elizabeth really bonded!:) We had a great time at the wedding and Trey was a dancing machine at the reception...it was awesome! We got to meet up with so many old friends and really enjoyed meeting new ones as well. After the wedding we were off to the beach, and I will post those pictures later. So far this summer has been really fun, except Elizabeth has her 5th ear infection in 7 months, so we are going to see an ENT in a couple weeks about getting tubes! YUCK!!! At this point I'm willing to do anything to get her better though! Hope everyone is having a great summer so far.:)
I always tell everyone what a great big brother Trey is.....now I am going to show proof! That boy is so sweet to his sister.....and she absolutely adores him. Not only do they love each other, but they really enjoy each other and think everything is funny! I love when they get so tickled they just laugh and laugh at each other!
Trey is taking swim lessons, and last week was his first week. He already knows how to swim, but his teacher is working on the strokes. Anyway, the teacher is super nice and said I could get in with Elizabeth one day. I was really excited to see how she would like the water (not so excited about putting on a bathing suit tho!)....and she LOVED IT!!!!! She was so happy and kept splashing the water. And the water was not that warm, believe me. I also just love the way those fat thighs look in her polka dot bathing suit!:) Trey is doing so well in his lessons and it wears him out so he's sleeping pretty good too! Enjoy the pictures!:)
Bobby, the kids, and I are living in Myrtle Beach now....enjoying life and each other! Trey and Elizabeth continue to keep us busy....but we love every minute of it and are so thankful God gave us these sweet babies!:)
